Our Favorite Protein Smoothie Recipes

As a busy mom of two little ones, making sure I eat healthy is on the bottom of my list.  I put so much time and energy into trying to get my girls to eat healthy (which is a struggle every day!).  One of my goals this year is to get my nutrition in check.  My favorite thing to make into a meal is a protein smoothie.  I have some great recipes for you below, packed with nutrition.

Easy and healthy protein smoothies.

My Favorite Protein Smoothies

It seems like most people struggle to eat a healthy breakfast.  But for me, that is not my problem area.  Things start to go downhill around lunch time.  I really get into my day and sometimes around 1 or 2, I realize I haven't eaten lunch.  So I grab whatever I can find, which is more than likely a poor choice.  I love protein smoothies because they can be made into a meal and have a ton of great nutrition (depending on what you put in them obviously!).  The base of our smoothies will be the protein powder.  I try to always have a chocolate and vanilla protein powder on hand.  I also use this to blend up my smoothies and it works really well and is easy to clean!

Orgain

I have tried a million different protein powders, and I keep coming back to Orgain.  I love that they don't use any fake sugar substitutes (it's sweetened with Stevia) and it is organic which is hard to find.  We get ours from Costco for a really good price compared to other protein powders I've tried.  I've been using it for a few years now.  They recently sent me their new Vanilla protein with superfoods and I used it to make the berry smoothie recipe and the tropical smoothie recipe.  Orgain also sent us their superfoods powder to add to any smoothie or drink.  I am in LOVE with it!  There are 50 superfoods and 5 billion probiotics per serving.  Whoa!  Okay, on to the recipes!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana

Ingredients:

Chocolate Protein Powder of choice

1 Frozen Banana (I always freeze mine because it makes the smoothie extra thick!)

1 tbl Powdered Peanut Butter - I use Tru-Nut 

1 tbl chia seeds

1.5 cup water

1 cup ice

Blend and enjoy!

Tropical Green Monster

Ingredients:

Vanilla Protein Powder of choice

1 cup frozen pineapple

1 cup frozen mango

1 cup greens (I use Trader Joe's Organic Power Greens)

1.5 cup water

1 cup ice

Blend and enjoy!

Berry Blast

Ingredients:

Vanilla Protein Powder of choice

1 cup frozen mixed berries (feel free to use fresh if they're in season!)

1 cup frozen blueberries

1/2 frozen banana

1 tbl chia seeds

1 scoop superfoods

1.5 cup water

1 cup ice

Blend and enjoy!

    1. Hi Julie! I love the ones I listed in the post by Orgain. I've also tried Shakeology and loved that one as well as Arbonne. They are just really expensive and I've found I like the ones by Orgain a bit better. Hope that helps!
