Since we moved into our home, our bedroom has had two different looks. The first one was black, rattan and white which I loved. I felt like I wanted a more coastal look (without being cheesy) and our new bedroom is just that! Our master bedroom decor is very light and airy which is my favorite look. Especially for a bedroom, it's very calming. I'll share all the details of our bedroom below!

I decided I wanted to do board and batten on the wall behind our bed. In the model home, they do horizontal board and batten across the entire room. It's gorgeous, but it was a little overwhelming for me. I also couldn't imagine how much time that would take us!
We decided to do two battens close together in a pattern, and I'm in LOVE with how it came together! The paint color we used is Sea Salt by Sherwin Williams and it's such a pretty color. More about that below.

The most difficult part about the board and batten was planning out the spacing. We didn't want the battens to hit the very edge of the window or go on top of an outlet. They came out perfectly!

Now, to style the room and make it cozy! My big dilemma was trying to decide what to put at the end of our bed. I thought it would be fun to show you the 3 ways I styled it.
Ultimately, we decided to go with the chairs because it is more functional. I don't love that they hide the beautiful bed frame, but it works best for us.
Ok, first up is our chairs! I got these at Target and love that they are on the smaller side so it works in this space. They are since sold out, but I'll link a very similar option here!
The white rattan side table is from Home Goods. This one is available at TJMAXX!
Someday, we might add a TV to our room but for now we don't have one. This would be the perfect spot to sip your coffee and watch the news. However, I have two smalls kids so that won't be happening any time soon (haha!).

The next option is a bench. I love an end of bed bench, but I don't feel like this one quite works here. I'm really sad, because I purchased it for our bedroom.
I'm sure I'll find another spot for it in our home! This one is a bit too small and the white really blends in.
I absolutely LOVE these baskets! We also have them in our living room. Check out our living room decor post here. They hold a lot and look good at the same time. We store extra blankets and pillows in them.
I love the way they look, but again I am going with function for this spot. I did keep them in the room, but just moved them to a different spot.

For our night stands, I kept the decor pretty minimal. I'm sure I'll find more items to put on the night stands. I added some beach themed coffee table books, a candle, and this cute rattan box.
For the photo above our bed, I once again used Frame It Easy. They are my go-to for framing pictures easy and effortlessly. If you click the above link, you'll get a discount on your purchase. I love family photos, but for this space I wanted a print of a place that makes us super happy.
We love visiting Cannon Beach (we usually go once a week in the Summer!) and thought a print of Haystack Rock would be perfect. I grabbed this print off Etsy.
We kept our old bedding for the most part. I was worried that our quilt wouldn't work for this newer style of bed, but it actually looks great! The green throw was a new purchase and I found that at Home Goods. It's the perfect match to our paint!
I found the longer white striped lumbar pillow at Target.
of course I had to share a picture of our cute kitten!
here is our bed without anything in front of it so you can get a good look
Our bed frame took a looooong time to get here, but it was worth the wait. I ordered it on October 19th and it was finally delivered on January 21st. We ended up sleeping on our floor for a month because we got rid of our old bed frame when they called to tell us it was on it's way.
It is a super comfortable and sturdy bed frame. The cane is gorgeous and it is double sided, so it feels very strong. Ryan is 6'5" and he fits comfortably on it with the footboard.

We used Sea Salt by Sherwin Williams and absolutely LOVE it. It's the perfect color for a coastal bedroom. It's very calming. It would work great in a bathroom as well. Some websites say it can lean more towards blue depending on the light your room gets.
It's a true sea green for us. I'd suggest getting a sample paint can which is really inexpensive. I wrote a whole blog post on this color here. We also have it painted in our powder bathroom because we love it so much! Another paint color contender was Topsail.
I haven't shared our bathroom much, but here is a photo of how our design came together.

This space is amazing!! It's the most serene bedroom I've ever seen; you nailed it!!
Hi! Thank you so much, your comment means the world!
Love everything about your bedroom! Two questions:
What size bed did you get?
You mentioned your "adjustable" mattress works (even though manufacturer says it wasn't designed to accommodate one) Which type/brand adjustable bed do you have that "works"?
Thanks!
Thank you! We have a King size bed. Sorry, I meant that it fits in the bed frame (wasn't too thick or thin). Our original bed frame was a BeautyRest adjustable base and I believe they have to be their bases to work with an adjustable mattress. Let me know if you have any other questions!
This is SO SO beautiful. I think I’m going to paint with sea salt. May I ask what color white you used on the other walls and baseboards.I want to make sure I pick the right color to go with the sea salt.
Thank you! The walls are Sherwin Williams Pure White and so is our trim! It's a great combo 🙂
I love your board and batten wall. Can you please tell me how wide each board is and how much space is in between? Many thanks.
Our battens are 15 inches apart for the the larger gap and the two smaller battens are 4.5 inches apart. We did them this length apart so we'd avoid hitting windows and outlets but we couldn't avoid it completely. Hopefully that helps!
Hey there!! Absolutely love this space! Hoping to do a similar board and batten wall myself. Do you have information about the dimensions of the wood you used?

Hello! I am looking to do a bedroom overhaul and have really wanted to do a nice accent wall but we also have small windows on that wall which has really thrown me off in my design. Seeing how you did it is making me excited to try for myself. Where did you get the shutters that cover the windows? Thanks!
Hi! That is so fun! Can't wait to hear how it turns out. The shutters are custom made for our whole home from Budget Blinds.
