If you're looking for a great cocktail to serve this holiday season, check out our winter Aperol spritz! I served this at a girls night in early December and it was a hit. I love Aperol and it's a cocktail I think can be enjoyed year round. Most think that it is only for summertime, but I love adding in season twists to make it fit any time of year. Our winter Aperol spritz cocktail contains pomegranate juice which gives it a winter touch. We top it with garnishes that just scream winter. Continue reading for our recipe!

If you've never tried Aperol, it's a must! I love a classic Aperol spritz as well. If you're not familiar with an Aperol spritz, it's Aperol, Prosecco, Club Soda, and an orange slice.

What Is Aperol?

What exactly is Aperol you might be asking? Aperol is an Italian bitter apéritif made of gentian, rhubarb and cinchona. It has a bright orange hue and the name comes from apero, an Italian slang word for apéritif. It's meant to be enjoyed before your meal, but I can definitely drink a few.

Our recipe is quite simple! Add 2 parts Aperol, 3 parts Prosecco, and 2 part club soda to a glass with lots of ice. I like serving them in large stemmed wine glasses and we love using nugget ice from our nugget ice machine. It's truly life changing!

To make this a winter cocktail, we added in a splash of pomegranate juice. For our garnish, we added a slice of orange, a handful of fresh cranberries, and a sprig of rosemary! I love how you smell fresh rosemary every time you take a sip.

Last year, I made a fall Aperol spritz recipe and loved that as well! This one was made with fresh apple cider and an apple slice as the garnish. Yum! Check out that recipe here.

Other Winter Aperol Spritz Additions

If you want this cocktail to be lighter, add more club soda. If you'd like, you can also swap out pomegranate juice for cranberry juice. For another garnish idea, add fresh pomegranate seeds instead of cranberries. The options are endless!

Where Can You Find Aperol?

Aperol is sold at most all liquor stores! It has always been super easy for me to find.
