Easter Traditions and Spring Style with Bonnie Jean

This post has been kindly sponsored by Bonnie Jean, a brand we've loved and used for years.  All opinions are 100% our own as always!

Easter is almost here!  I can't believe how early it is this year.  It is less than three weeks away!  I actually just realized that I hadn't booked our Easter egg hunt.  They sell out quickly here (I know, crazy right?!) so we have to always book ahead.  Fingers crossed we get nice weather and it isn't a down pour!  That has happened to us before and it was no fun.  Do you guys have any fun Easter traditions?  I'd love to fill you in on ours!

Easter Traditions with Our Girls

Easter Dresses

Now that our girls are a little older, they have become so much fun over the different holidays throughout the year.  They really understand that we are celebrating something special and get so excited.  We love to pick out a special dress for the girls for Easter (and really any holiday for that matter).  Our go to dress shop for special occasions is Bonnie Jean.  We have actually worn their dresses for years (ok, three years to be exact).  Are you at all surprised that we chose the smocking style for them?!  Bonnie Jean dresses really are so well made.  They are stitched beautifully and the detail is really great.  They have been making and designing dresses since 1935!  Bonnie Jean also has a sister shop which we obviously love.  I love to twin or coordinate the girls, so this is perfect for us!  Someday, they won't be so excited about this so I have to take advantage while I can.

Egg Hunt

For the past 2 years, we've gone to the Lee Farms Easter egg hunt right outside of Portland.  They have the cutest set up.  You can purchase your tickets ahead of time by date and time.  The tickets are organized by age group so the under two kids hunt for eggs in a group and the three and up kids hunt in a separate group.  It's nice because there aren't a bunch of older kids trampling the babies.  Each child is able to pick 10 eggs and then there is a booth where they trade in their eggs for the prizes of their choice.  The prize booth has little toys, candy, stickers, etc.  It's nice that they can pick whatever they'd like!

We have also gone to an Easter celebration in our local city.  They actually fly the Easter bunny in on a helicopter.  I know, crazy right?!  It was a little too busy last year.  Our city is growing by leaps and bounds and every festival has just gotten so packed all the time.  They did have llamas there last year, so we may have to go back just for that.

Church

We love to get the girls dressed up in their Easter best and head to church!  We will be going to the same church where McKinlee goes to preschool at.  She loves it there and is really comfortable.  I'm sure they'll have the kids sing at the service (hopefully!).  The girls will be wearing their matching smocked dresses by Bonnie Jean.  They are super comfortable and can be worn all day.  The girls wore them all day when we took photos and never fussed once.  It's always nice to find comfortable special occasion dresses that aren't stiff or itchy.  We love Bonnie Jean for that!

Easter Bunny

We will obviously be taking photos with the Easter bunny at some point.  I really need to get on that because Easter will have come and gone before I know it!  The girls did really well last year.  We actually went to see him twice, they loved him so much.

Easter Baskets

The girls obviously love getting their Easter baskets each year (ok, this will be the first year Madi might understand).  I did a whole post on our Easter basket picks here.

Easter Day

On Easter, we will do an egg hunt at our house and then head to church.  After church we always go over to my Aunts house to have an early dinner.  Ham and deviled eggs are always involved!

We took these photos at our local nursery and the girls loved it.  The girls ended up picking out primroses and mini daffodils to plant.  McKinlee loves helping plant!

We took the girls to our favorite cupcake shop which has the cutest little pink piano and the BEST cupcakes.  If you're ever in Portland, you have to check out Fat Cupcake (they also have a really cute pink wall!).
