5 Laundry Care Hacks for Busy Moms

This post was sponsored by Whirlpool. These items were generously donated in exchange for coverage but all opinions and copy are my own.

I feel like the term "busy moms" is pretty obvious. As moms, we are SO busy all the time. It's tough to slow down and find pockets of time to relax. Whether you're a stay-at-home mom, a work-from-home mom, or a work-outside-the-home mom, life is crazy! Add in the holidays, and mama is about to lose her mind! I am so beyond thrilled to be partnering with Whirlpool® to share 5 laundry care hacks for busy moms. Today, I am focusing on the laundry portion of our household chores including the Whirlpool® Smart Front Load Laundry Pair with the Load & Go™ XL Plus Detergent Dispenser! Even with 4 family members, we somehow end up with so much laundry!

If I could give our new Whirlpool® Smart Front Load Laundry Pair with the Load & Go™ XL Plus Detergent Dispenser a giant hug, I would! It has reduced the time I spend on laundry significantly, and I'm going to tell you why. The Load & Go™ XL Plus Detergent Dispenser feature is amazing! I can pre-load laundry detergent directly into the machine. This allows me to save a step in the laundry process as I don't have to pre-measure my detergent or load it in each time.

With two girls that like to change outfits 12 times a day, our laundry adds up! When I fill our Load & Go™ XL Plus Detergent Dispenser it will dispense the correct amount of detergent per load for up to 40 loads*! It's nice not having to guess how much detergent to use. This saves us time and allows me to get more chores checked off my to-do list. I also get notifications when our detergent is low through the innovative touch screen and the Whirlpool® app on my phone**.

Our Whirlpool® Smart Front Load Laundry Pair also has the latest in voice control capabilities. With our voice-enabled devices** I can tell our Whirlpool® Smart Front Load to start the laundry! This is a really nice feature when my hands are full.

Laundry Care Hack One - Pre-Sort Laundry

The first of our laundry care hacks for busy moms is pre-sorting laundry. When Ryan remodeled our laundry room, he installed pull-out cabinets that have laundry baskets installed into them. This is where we sort our darks from whites. This saves so much time during the laundry process. The girls also get involved by putting their dirty clothes away in the correct basket. We actually need a third basket for pinks/reds since the girls wear a lot of pink! I also pre-treat stains as they happen. I've been able to keep the girls’ clothing looking brand new by doing this! Within the Whirlpool® app, there is a stain guide*** which helps me identify exactly how to treat a stain including tough ones like grass and spaghetti sauce. Super convenient!

Laundry Care Hack Two - Basket for Lone Socks

I found this cute basket at a local craft store and keep it in our laundry room. Somehow socks always go missing, so the lone socks get thrown in here. Once a month, I go through them to pair them back up. If we can't find the pair after a month, we turn them into cleaning rags.

Laundry Care Hack Three - Hang Dry Clothing

I learned this hack from my mom. When you have items you don't want to shrink or have to iron too much, I dry clothes for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes is up, I take out whatever might need too much ironing or might shrink and hang dry it the rest of the way. Ryan installed a dryer bar in our laundry room for this purpose. This helps save time from having to iron too much!

Laundry Care Hack Four - Get the Kids Involved

The girls LOVE putting laundry away. I'll remind them of this when they're teenagers! We have the girls help out when it comes to putting their laundry away. When I am done folding their laundry, I have them put away small things like socks and underwear, pajamas and folded pants/tops. This actually helps save me a ton of time, allows me to knock more off my to-do list, and it gives the girls a sense of accomplishment.

Laundry Care Hack Five - Wash Often

I've found that when I save my laundry to do all at once, it becomes pretty overwhelming. I try to do one load of laundry every other day to cut down on too much. With our Whirlpool® Smart Front Load Laundry Pair, I can manage my laundry from the app on my phone. This gives me flexibility to head out with the girls to the park, or run errands and the app will tell me exactly when my laundry is done. With the Whirlpool® app, I can also schedule a wash cycle. When the schedule is set, it will start our laundry so that it is done based on our schedule.

  1. I LOVE the idea of installing pull-out cabinets that have laundry baskets installed into them. I just need to convince my Mr. Fix-it to do the job.

    1. It's seriously been my favorite feature when we re-did our laundry room! The girls even help sort laundry. Win win!

  2. I have a son who goes though 3 pairs of clothes a day which can be exhausting. I sort, wash, and dry, then put away...seems endless on some days. I use only one detergent because he has allergies. Thanks for the tips. They will go far

  3. When having a dry cleaning delivery service, never try to free yourself from the stain. You can also set the color or throw the color out of the fabric. But do not blow but rub if the fluid is poured into the cloth. Water or soda club flushing is usually OK.
