If you’ve been researching in-pool lounge chairs for your sun shelf (also called a baja shelf), chances are you’ve come across Ledge Loungers and maybe had a little sticker shock like I did.

When we built our pool here in Arizona, I knew I wanted that resort-style look with chaise lounge chairs sitting right in the water. After a lot of research (and going back and forth on the price), we decided to invest in Ledge Loungers.
Now that we’ve owned them for 3 full years in extreme Arizona heat, I feel like I can give a truly honest answer to the question: Are Ledge Loungers worth it?
Short answer? Yes, but there are a few things you should know before you buy.

If you’re looking for high-quality, long-lasting, in-pool lounge chairs that can handle extreme heat and still look beautiful, Ledge Loungers are absolutely worth it.

They are not the cheapest option but in my experience, they are one of those purchases where you truly get what you pay for. I have friends that have purchased the look-a-like option and they've ended up molding and discoloring. I'm happy to report that our Ledge Loungers haven't!

We use ours constantly. Whether it’s lounging, watching the kids swim, or just relaxing at the end of the day and they’ve held up better than I ever expected.
Let’s talk about the biggest concern because if you live somewhere hot like I do, this is probably your #1 question.

Do Ledge Loungers hold up in extreme sun and heat?
After 3 years of:
They still look almost brand new.
No fading.
No warping.
No cracking.

This was honestly my biggest hesitation before buying, and it’s the main reason I now recommend them so confidently.
The material they use (a high-quality UV-resistant resin) is specifically designed for in-pool use, and it shows.

If they can survive Arizona summers, I truly believe they can handle just about anywhere.
One thing I didn’t expect? How often we would actually use them.
These aren’t just for looks. They’re incredibly comfortable.
We have the Signature Chaise Loungers, and they’re perfect for:
Our sun shelf is one of the most used areas of our pool, and these chairs are a big reason why.

Even our kids love hanging out on them, which says a lot.
We went with:
These are designed specifically for shallow water (like a sun shelf), and they’ve worked perfectly for our setup.

If you’re going for that clean, coastal, resort-style aesthetic, these deliver.

Let’s keep it real, because no product is perfect.

Cons:

you have to use this screwdriver to open the plugs, then submerge the Ledge Lounger until no more air bubbles come out of the hole
This is really important and something a lot of people overlook.

The Signature Chaise Loungers are designed for water depths up to about 9 inches.
If your sun shelf is deeper, you’ll need to look at their deeper water options.
Before ordering, make sure you:
This will make or break your experience.

If you’re still figuring out what chairs will work best for your setup, I share more options in my full guide to the best in-pool chairs for your sun shelf.
There are definitely cheaper options out there. I looked at a lot of them.

But here’s the biggest difference I’ve seen:
Most alternatives don’t hold up long-term in extreme heat.
I’ve had friends try less expensive versions that:

Ledge Loungers are one of the few brands specifically engineered for:
And in my opinion, that’s where they really stand out.

This is a super common question. Yes, like anything sitting in direct sun, they can get warm. But because they’re designed for in-pool use and often partially submerged, they cool down quickly once water hits them. We’ve never found this to be a dealbreaker.
We do, and have for 3 years. They are designed to stay in the water, and we’ve had zero issues leaving them in our pool full-time. If you live in a colder climate and winterize your pool, I would recommend bringing them out of the pool for winter storage.
I always recommend ordering directly so you get the correct model for your depth and have access to customer support if needed.
If you’re already planning your pool or upgrading your sun shelf, this is one of those purchases that truly makes a difference in how your space looks and functions.
It depends on the model you choose. The Signature Chaise Loungers (the ones I have) are designed for water depths up to about 9 inches, which is perfect for most sun shelves. If your shelf is deeper, Ledge Lounger offers other options designed for deeper water, so it’s important to measure your pool before purchasing. They even have chair risers for baja shelves up to 20 inches!
In my experience, no. One of the biggest reasons I chose Ledge Loungers is because they are specifically made to withstand direct sunlight. Even after constant exposure to intense Arizona sun and triple-digit temperatures, I haven’t experienced any fading, warping, or cracking.
Yes, especially if you live in a hot climate or plan to leave them in your pool long-term. While they are more expensive than other in-pool chairs, they are designed with UV-resistant resin that holds up extremely well against sun, heat, and water exposure. After 3 years in Arizona heat, mine still look almost brand new, which makes them a worthwhile investment.
No, however they do tend to do bundle prices. For example, if you buy two Chaise Loungers and a matching table they will often offer a bundle deal.
I just use a scrub brush and a magic eraser to clean our Chaise Loungers. I clean them during the fall and winter when we're not using them as much too. They're really easy to clean!
After 3 years of daily use in extreme Arizona heat, my answer is:
Yes, Ledge Loungers are 100% worth it!

They’re one of those rare purchases that:
If you’re debating whether to invest, I would do it again in a heartbeat.
They completely transformed our pool into a space we use and enjoy so much more and honestly, that’s what it’s all about.
