I have always wanted to take the girls apple picking as a fun adventure. There are some amazing apple orchards here in Oregon, but we didn't feel like traveling too far. If you are looking for a day trip, Hood River has some great orchards (you can follow their fruit loop). I've heard that Draper Girls Farm and Mt. View Orchards are fun and kid friendly if you are heading that way. For something close to us, we chose Albeke Farms in Oregon City. Their farm is pretty simple, but for a kid friendly apple orchard near Portland, it got the job done!

Albeke Farms has a few different apple varieties, but we chose to pick McIntosh apples. They are sweet and tart at the same time. I had grand plans of baking an apple pie, but I guess those don't do well in pies. The thing I loved about this farm, is that the apples were fairly low to the ground so the girls could easily pick them. I wanted them to actually be able to pick their own apples so that they might appreciate eating them! Albeke Farms also has U-Pick berries, peaches, corn, and tomatoes. We'll definitely have to go back when berry season hits next year. We picked up some produce at their produce stand as well.
Since I can't seem to do anything without snapping one million photos, here are some pictures from our apple picking adventure!
