We are officially on Summer break, and we took the first week to throw all routines out the window! We slept in, stayed up late, ate breakfast on the couch and lunch in the car. It made me realize how much our girls need their routine. They started acting up, telling us no way too many times, and throwing the worst fits. I quickly realized that we needed a summer evening routine with our toddlers. One of the best ways to get the girls energy out is to head out into our neighborhood for a walk!
Summer Evening Routine with Our Toddlers
Getting fresh air is so good for the soul! We start our evening off with dinner outside (when the weather is nice). Our family has been really good about eating together. Even though our girls like to eat early (at 5pm or so!), we eat with them. Recently, we've been getting them more involved in chores as well. Ryan and I will set a 5 minute timer and have the girls help us pick up the house. It literally takes 2 seconds for the house to turn into a disaster. We've been trying really hard to keep this family pick up routine up. It really helps and when everyone pitches in and it goes by quickly! So far, the girls have been on board! Before bath time, we head out for a family walk in our neighborhood.
We recently picked up The Modes™ 3 Lite DLX Travel System by Graco and have been loving it! It's the perfect stroller for heading out for walks in our neighborhood. McKinlee has pretty much grown out of wanting to be in a stroller, but Madison still loves sitting in the stroller for our outings. Plus, I like to contain her from running away from us! Getting the girls energy out at the end of the night with a walk in our neighborhood has done wonders! We are super lucky to live close to several parks and walking paths. The Modes™ 3 Lite DLX stroller has so many amazing features and it's perfect for our family!
The Modes™ 3 Lite DLX Travel System by Graco
The Modes™ 3 Lite DLX stroller by Graco has 3-wheel maneuverability which I love. It offers such a smooth turn! Our previous stroller didn't have cup holders or our child or myself, and it was quite the pain! The Modes™ 3 Lite DLX stroller comes with 2 cup holders for you and 2 for your child, as well as a tray for snacks or toys. There are 9 ways to ride, so the stroller is super flexible based on your needs. The storage basket below is huge! This is a must have for us, to store blankets, snacks, water bottles, etc.
The Modes™ 3 Lite DLX stroller also comes with the option of an infant car seat so it grows with your baby and your family! I really wish we had this option when the girls were infants. The Click Connect™ provides a one-step, secure attachment for your infant car seat. The extendable canopy is also a really great feature. It gives quite a bit of shade coverage with the added zipper. The Modes™ 3 Lite DLX stroller has a convertible 3- or 5-point harness, so it grows with your child. It also folds up and opens easily, which is another important feature for us. It fits perfectly in our trunk for easy travel!
Night Time Routine
After our walk around the neighborhood and letting the girls play at our parks, we head in for bath time and bed time. This is a great way to get them relaxed and ready for bed after our outdoor time. I don't like letting the girls go to bed after having sunscreen on them, so we pretty much do baths or showers each night in the Summer. They usually go to sleep during the Summer at 8:30.
That's pretty much our Summer evening routine with our toddlers! Make sure to check out The Modes™ 3 Lite DLX stroller by Graco. We love that it grows with our family, easily maneuvers, and easily transports in our car.
I'd love to hear your Summer evening routine in the comments below! What do you do to get the energy out of your toddlers at night? I'd love to hear! Thank you so much for reading!
