UPPAbaby CRUZ Stroller Review

UPPAbaby CRUZ Stroller Review

Our family is huge fans of UPPAbaby and I'm so excited to share our UPPAbaby CRUZ stroller review with you. We recently retired our UPPAbaby VISTA which we used for over two years. I purchased the VISTA when I was pregnant with Madison.

We had a different stroller for McKinlee, and with her being just 22 months when Madison was born, we knew we needed a double. Our fist stroller was a huge pain. It didn't steer smoothly at all and I constantly struggled to push it. I

knew I wanted to get the VISTA from the moment I tested it out. We also bought the MESA car seat for Madison, which clicks into the VISTA. Once we knew that McKinlee had pretty much outgrown the VISTA we of course wanted to stay with UPPAbaby for our next full size stroller.

The UPPAbaby CRUZ stroller is the VISTA's little sister. It is just as smooth of a stroll as the VISTA but more compact and doesn't convert to a double. We had the 2015 VISTA and I really love the leather updates on the 2018 version of the CRUZ (the VISTA has the same updates too!).

First off, putting it together was an absolute breeze. When it showed up, we were so excited to put it together and it took us all of 5 minutes. The girls were so excited to take it for a spin, we had to head out in the neighborhood right away.

We also decided to get the piggyback so that McKinlee (or Madi) could have the option to ride on the skateboard attachment. I love that the seat can either face out or face you. Madi loves chatting with her big sis while she's on the piggyback. It's also really simple to switch the seat positions.

Smooth Strolling

The UPPAbaby CRUZ is so smooth! It is narrow for a full-size stroller and can easily maneuver through aisles, down narrow sidewalks, the mall, and inside small coffeeshops. We've also tested it out on rocky terrain in our neighborhood, and it worked great! We live in a really hilly area, and the CRUZ does great going up and down hills.

Our Favorite Features

After using the VISTA for over two years, I got used to the extra-large basket. The CRUZ has a large basket as well! It holds up to 25 pounds!

Ryan and I are pretty tall, and we love that the CRUZ has an adjustable handle bar. He is 6.5", so most strollers are just way too short for him to comfortably use.

The break on the CRUZ is also really easy to use. It's a simple one foot click up or down to lock and unlock it.

Traveling with the UPPAbaby Cruz Stroller

The UPPAbaby CRUZ is also easy to get in and out of your car. It folds with one motion and fits nicely into our trunk. The CRUZ weighs 21.5 pounds. If you are looking for a stroller to use from the start, it is compatible with the MESA infant car seat as well as select Chicco, Maxi-Cosi, Nuna, and Cybex models with adaptors.

We loved being able to click our MESA carseat in and out of our VISTA with one hand.  With our old stroller, it took two hands to get our car seat out and it was a huge pain! It also flies really well. We've taken it on multiple flights and it's very easy to maneuver in the airport with. We love how light it is! It also stands on its own while folded which is a major must have while traveling.

Using the UPPAbaby Cruz Stroller Outdoors

Another favorite feature of the CRUZ is the canopy. It is UPF 50 and has a sun shade for even more coverage. I also love the peek-a-boo cover so I can peek in at Madi without having to stop and look around the seat.

Again, it strolls easily on sidewalks, up hills, and even on rocky terrain.

UPPAbaby Cruz Color Options

We decided on Sabrina pink (a buybuy BABY exclusive!) for our seat and I can't get over how pretty the color is. We obviously love pink, and Madi calls the CRUZ her pink stroller and her birthday present. She loves it just as much as I do!

The UPPAbaby Cruz now comes in a 7 soft/muted tones. They no longer carry the Sabrina Pink sadly, but they do have a gorgeous 'Alice Pink'. You can also order complimentary swatches so you can see the colors in person prior to ordering.

UPPAbaby Cruz From Birth Options

The UPPAbaby Cruz allows for a basinet to be clicked in to the stroller. This was nice when you have a fresh newborn and want to get out of the house for a walk. They also offer a basinet stand so you can transfer the basinet to the stand without waking your babe.

We had the basinet and honestly used it for a very short amount of time. It came as a package with our VISTA, otherwise I probably would not have purchased it separately.

We also conveniently used the MESA infant car seat to click right into our our stroller. This is such a nice option!

Cons of the UPPAbaby Cruz Stroller

My main setback to the UPPAbaby Cruz stroller is the higher price point. There is definitely a difference to me in the feel of this stroller vs. cheaper options. There is a great market for selling used UPPAbaby products. We sold our VISTA for several hundred dollars as it was in excellent condition. You can also check resell to see if you can find a deal!

It is not a great option if you have 2+ young children. Our oldest was comfortable standing, but sometimes she wanted the option to sit. We were ready to get ride of our double stroller and switch to a single, so this ended up being the best option for us.
