I've always loved decorating our stair railing for Christmas. I typically use a mix of faux and real garland. I cut down fresh stems from our trees to mix in with faux eucalyptus garland and I love how it looks! I'll share our Christmas staircase decor from this year as well as past years along with a few other favorite ideas I've found on Instagram!
There are many options out there for decorating your staircase or stair railing for Christmas, but I like to keep things fairly simple! For our railing, I took two 6 foot faux eucalyptus garlands (these ones have straight leaves and round leaves) along with a third round leaf eucalyptus garland to give it extra volume.
Zip-tie these or use twine to attach them to your railing. Then, I cut down evergreen stems from trees in our yard. I lay these on top of the faux garlands and intertwine the stems together until I like how they look. Tie or zip-tie these on your railing.
I then add in battery powered twinkle lights. This strand was extra long so I had lots of lights to work with! I weave them in and out of the greenery until I'm happy with the way they look.
I will have to take down the existing real green stems about two weeks after I put them up and replace with new real green stems. This can be a bit of a pain, but the look I want is worth it!
I am in love with these brass bells I found on Amazon. The silver one was from a local boutique that I mixed in and I love the contrast. I may have to keep these around for decor year round because I love them so much!
I also added some simple green velvet ribbon. You could also use navy blue, red, or even pink! Another fun addition would be to tie Christmas ornaments onto the greenery or some faux holly stems.
