We've had this color blocked cutting board done for about 9 months now and we love how it looks! I keep this in our kitchen behind our range. You might see these color block cutting boards for over $100, but this DIY cost me around $25! Here is our color block cutting board DIY so you can make one of your own.
This DIY cutting board took around 3 coats or so of paint. I don't use this for serving food or cutting food, but for a piece of decor. If you plan on using this for food, you'll need to use food grade paint and food grade sealant.
I grabbed this round wooden cutting board from Home Goods for around $20, but you can find a similar one here.
First, you'll take your painters tape (I used 1 inch thick tape) and stick it horizontally where you'd like. Add the second strip of painters tape below wherever you'd like it to go. Mine is spaced around 3 inches apart.
Next, paint on the outside of your painters tape so you're left with two wood colored stripes. I painted 3 coats of paint. You can leave the back side wood or repeat these steps on the back side. You'll also want to make sure to tape the same stripe on the sides and paint all edges.
If you're using this for food serving, you'll want to seal your paint with food grade paint sealant. That is pretty much it! This is such an easy DIY and I LOVE my cutting board! I think it looks so cute behind my range.
