Home Decor, Outdoor Living, Paint Colors
I shared a few stories the other day over on Instagram of the inside and outside of our home! One of the most asked questions was what the paint color is. I actually didn't do a ton of research when it came to our paint choice. Luckily, it was the paint inside of the model home and when I saw it I fell in love. It's a true white. Like, white white white. It doesn't really have any yellow, blue, or green hues. It is a true crisp white.
It's Sherwin Williams Pure White (7005). After deciding on this color for our interior, and knowing we wanted a farm house exterior I was excited to hear that this was the color offered for the exterior from our builder. They also used Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black for the garage doors and front doors.
I am seriously in love with this black too. We are contemplating using it on some black shiplap in our home, so stay tuned for that! Studio McGee also recommends Tricorn Black and I love their style.
These photos were taken at sunset so the siding has a bit of an orange hue next to the board and batten. It really is such a great white! Sherwin Williams Pure White has very little colourant in it. The color info is R - 237, G - 236 and B - 230.
The hex value is #edece6 and the LRV is 84. Pure White can tend to pick up colors from its surroundings which is kind of cool! This way, it can kind of almost transform with your decor.
What is LRV you might be asking? LRV stands for Light Reflectance Value which measures the amount of visible and usable light that reflects from paint on a surface.
The scale ranges from 0 to 100 with black being at a 0 and the purest white at 100 (reflecting ALL light).
The LRV helps when choosing a color and knowing how light or dark a color will appear. Again, Pure White is an 84 which is pretty darn high.
We also painted our entire interior in Pure White as well as our trim and doors. Since we used a different sheen, this works well.
It's a really great color for interior paint if you want a true white. Pure White is also great for trim, cabinets and shiplap.
The other white we love and used in our previous home is Sherwin Williams Snowbound. It's another good, crisp white color. We used it here in Madison's old room as a backdrop to the flower wall decals.
I love the wood beams at our front porch and can't wait to decorate them for fall and the holidays!
I also can't believe we almost went with a white door here. The pop of black is much needed on our white house! It's the perfect color for a statement door. I've also seen it used on cabinets and it looks really great there too.
Down the road we want to add some shutters and window boxes to our home. We'll paint those tricorn black too. I think it needs something extra!
this is a photo our builder took of our home before we moved in
the fall wreaths are from Home Goods!
I thought I'd share other homes that use Pure White on their exterior so you can get a good idea of how the color looks.

Pink Shiplap in Our Girls Bathroom // Black Shiplap in Our Office // Our Mudroom Design
We love using Sherwin Williams paint color in our home. It's the only paint we used in our previous home and most likely, will be the only paint we'll use in our new home. So far, we've painted both girls rooms and our bedroom. I'll be sharing that soon hopefully!
To see how we did the girls bathrooms using our favorite pink, click here! Thanks so much for reading and please let me know if you have questions!
The exterior looks great. Love the wood accent! I am thinking of doing my kitchen in the same colours. Pure White on wall cabinets and vent hood, with wood open shelving and tricorn black on island. Thoughts?
Hi there! Thank you so much! I have seen a lot of people paint their cabinets Pure White. Our entire interior including trim and doors are Pure White and we absolutely love it! It's a true white with no blue or yellow undertones. Another great white that we had in our old home is Snowbound and that is another good option for a true white. My best friend is actually doing a black island, white uppers and wood shelves and the color palette is gorgeous! Another black option you could try is Black Magic. It is almost a 'softer' black if you will. We did a shiplap wall in this color and it's beautiful!
Love! Is there a color of stain that you used on the wood??
Hi! It's actually a clear stain by Minwax! It's called fast drying polyurethane gloss. Hope that helps!
Hi, you mentioned you used a clear stain on your wood. What kind/type of wood is it?
It’s actually a clear stain by Minwax! It’s called fast drying polyurethane gloss. It's on their website but I'm not finding it at Home Depot/Lowes.
Sorry, our wood is cedar. 🙂
Hi! Loooove the exterior colors! What finish did you use for the exterior? What finish for the door? We are deciding between flat or semi gloss.
I am trying to decide between flat or semi gloss as well.
