I have always wanted a bold/dark wall in our home and I finally have it! This black shiplap accent wall in my new office was the perfect addition. In our last home, my office was very light and bright and I wanted something different for our new home. I was worried the dark wall would make the room darker, but not at all!
For our black shiplap, we went with Black Magic by Sherwin Williams. It's a great black with no other undertones. We also love Tricorn black which we have used in our laundry room and on the outside of our home.

Along with our black shiplap, we added a fun wallpapered wall adjacent. I LOVE this print and it was the perfect match. Our wallpaper is by Anewall and we've always been happy with their product.
I pushed our two IKEA shelves together in the corner
It is super easy to install and I love the prints they offer. We've done a lot of wallpaper and I just love how it adds to your space. I grabbed this amazing gold mirror which I think is perfect for this space. Gold mirrors have been really hard to come by online, so I was happy when I found this one. It is 34 inches in diameter. My desk is from World Market but is sold out. I've had it forever and still love it!

We have installed shiplap in several spaces in our new home. Check out this post for an easy tutorial where we added pink shiplap to our daughters bathroom. Ryan recently made our mudroom (post to come soon hopefully!) and we invested in a paint sprayer. This was such a smart move. Spraying shiplap/wood projects is so much easier than painting with a brush or roller.
The main time sucker with spraying vs. rolling is the prep work. You have to take drop clothes and plastic to cover every single area in the room. Little droplets will get everywhere, so you have to take the time to do this.
Dark is a little more difficult because it shows every spot of white in between the boards. We still need to do a little touch up work to get the white in between covered. We'll just do that with a small brush.
Our next steps with this room are adding something to the wall across from the shiplap wall. I am thinking some floating shelves! We will eventually be adding in built in desks downstairs (hopefully next year!) and this space will then turn into a guest room down the road. The wall will transition nicely to a bedroom!
