It's my favorite time of year! Summer! I swear I live for this. The days are longer, all rules get thrown out the window, and we try to take advantage of each sweet Summer night. Living in Oregon, pools are hard to come by but we got lucky and have one in our neighborhood. Not everyone has them in their backyard and even neighborhoods rarely have them. When we lived in Indiana, it was a totally normally thing to have a neighborhood pool, but here not so much. We really only get to use it three months out of the year, but those three months are the best! Our favorite Summer tradition is dining by the pool!
Our Summer days usually start at the pool around 10AM, then we head home to have lunch, then head back to the pool around 4PM. We'll typically pack dinner and eat pool side after the hunger from swimming has sunk in. Ryan will meet us there after work and we'll hang till it's time to start our bedtime routine.
Our favorite line of tableware by Re-Play Recycled is launching their family line of plates, platters, and bowls later this Summer! We are super lucky to have gotten a sneak peak of the line, and let me tell you it is perfect for Summer dining al fresco! Adults can now get in on the fun of Re-Play Recycled. We have used their line for the girls for over a year now, and they make some of our favorite plates, bowls, cups, and flatware. Their stackable snack cups are our favorite! See our picky eaters post here that features items from Re-Play Recycled. Their family line will be coming with us to our pool and backyard dinners a lot! They are perfect because they won't break and are super durable.
If you haven't heard of Re-Play Recycled, they have been around since 1987 and are family owned. Re-Play uses curbside collected HDPE plastic. I love that each order comes with a card that lets you know how many milk jugs were used to make your plates/cups/bowls etc. When I say they're durable, I mean it! We have used the girls' Re-Play for over a year now, and I swear there is no visible wear at all.
We try to keep things super simple when we're dining by the pool. The girls love appetizer plates, so I'll usually do some cut up cheese, turkey, pepperoni, carrots, raspberries/strawberries, and crackers. They are quite the snackers so we just roll with it and make it a meal! Most of these pack up perfectly in the Re-Play Recycled snack cups! I love going across the street to our grocery store to pick up items from their deli for our dinner. We love their kale salad, crab cakes, salmon, pasta salads, and they bake the best fresh bread! Plus, everything is already packed up and ready to go. Grocery deli's are great for quick, easy, on the go meals!
Make sure to keep an eye out for the launch of Re-Play Recycled family line later this Summer! Thanks as always for reading!
