During the holidays, sleep can tend to get a little 'out of wack'. With late night parties, events, performances and traveling your little ones sleep can end up being all over the place. I wanted to share some of our favorite sleep tips we've learned over the years to keep your family sane during the holidays.
These are things I've learned from trial and error and advice from friends with little ones. One of our go-to items for consistent sleep is the Rest+ by Hatch. We've used the Rest for about 4 years now, and we truly can't live without it. Today, I'm sharing all about their newest version, the Rest+ and why it is a must have for those with newborns to big kids!
Our Favorite Sleep Tips for Kids During the Holidays
Consistency is key when it comes to healthy sleep habits. How does it make you feel when you're used to going to bed at 10 and waking at 7, to have your schedule shifted? One of the most important things I've learned is to keep a consistent sleep schedule. We always have the girls in bed by 8:30PM every single night.
There are some instances where we might be at a friends house or a party, and they go to bed at 9. That is probably the latest we'd let them stay up. During the holidays when schedules tend to be all over the place, try your very best to keep with your little ones sleep schedule.
With the Rest+, you can choose from several soothing sounds and your child can pick the color of their nightlight! The Rest+ also comes Alexa enabled, so you can turn the sound or lights on/off with a simple command.
With all of the holiday excitement, settling down for the night can be difficult. Plus, extra holiday sweets before bed time can keep your kiddos up later than usual. Since you're sticking to your normal bedtime, they may need extra time to get settled at night.
The Rest+ has a two way monitor! You can use the app (yes, there's an app!) to let your child know that everything is ok, and they need to go to sleep. The Rest+ has so many items in one. A monitor, night light, clock, sound machine and an ok-to-wake clock all in one! I love that I can control it from my phone!
Speaking of an ok-to-wake clock, we love that our Rest+ has this feature. It's a great tool to teach your toddler or child when it's ok to wake up. We set ours to green once it's 7am, so they know it's ok to get out of bed. It's red during the night so they know that it's still sleeping time until it turns green.
Staying On Schedule
With traveling or Christmas lunch at their Aunts that goes into their nap time, their schedule can really get thrown out of wack. Try your very best to keep nap times on schedule. Our girls rarely nap now, but when they did I tried my hardest to keep them on schedule. This really is key to overall healthy sleep. Christmas lunch runs into nap time? No problem! You have all your tools to keep your little one on schedule.
Hopefully you've found these tips helpful as you're gearing up for the busy holiday season! I can't recommend our Rest+ enough. I need my 8 hours of sleep each night, and if mama isn't well rested then everything around us crumbles! We've relied on the Rest for the last 4 years, and love the new Rest+ and all it's amazing features. It truly is our all in one necessity for the girls sleep. This would also make an amazing gift for a mama to be or those with toddlers/young children. Like I've said before, I've even taken one of the girls Rest's when I've traveled for a sound machine!
