You might remember a few weeks ago I threw a fun girls night in! I served up a really tasty watermelon sangria. Several of you have been asking for the recipes and I am finally putting it together! I'm excited to share my fresh watermelon sangria recipe with you. It's perfect for hot Summer nights on the patio or for any upcoming party you might be having.
This cocktail is unlike anything I've ever made. Watermelon can be tough when in a drink, but it worked with this one! I used a blender to blend up fresh watermelon cubes along with strawberries. The blend worked really well! You only need a few ingredients for this sangria. I only let it sit for a few hours, so it doesn't need to be made too far ahead.
Our sangria of course calls for wine. I went with a sauvignon blanc which is perfect for summer. It's light and crisp and worked perfectly for this recipe.
Watermelon Sangria Recipe
Ok, here is the recipe!
Fresh Watermelon Sangria
This watermelon sangria is the perfect summer cocktail on a hot night!
Blend together watermelon and cored/stemed strawberries. Strain out juice with fine mesh strainer.
Add watermelon/strawberry juice to drink dispenser
Add in vodka, wine, lemon juice, and triple sec. Stir well.
Chill in refrigerator for 2-3 hours.
In each wine glass, add 3-4 slices of strawberries and 3-4 blueberries. Add ice.
Pour sangria mixture into each glass and top with club soda.
Notes
I do not like super sweet drinks, but if you do you can always add a 1/2 cup simple syrup. The club soda also helps keep this cocktail less sweet, but this ingredient is optional.
I don't like my drinks sweet, so if you're like me you'll want to top this with club soda. If you do like sweet cocktails, you can always add around 1/2 cup simple syrup to the mixture. You can also mix up the fruit garnish with citrus too!
I used strawberries, blackberries and blueberries but feel free to use what you'd like for the garnish!
Hopefully you love this fresh watermelon sangria recipe as much as we did! It really is such a great Summer cocktail and I love that there isn't a ton of added sugar (just the fruit and wine!).
