Thank you to Michaels for sponsoring this post about red Christmas decorations!
Obviously red is the most classic Christmas color you can decorate with! I love the classic Christmas look, but I also like to have fun with it. I'm excited to share our red Christmas decorations and how we styled our tree with Michaels! We are a little extra and will have 5 (maybe 6) trees up in our house this year. One in each girls room, 3 on our main floor and possibly one in our loft area. What can I say, I love to decorate Christmas trees! We were super excited to partner with Michaels again on their dream tree challenge. Make sure to check out our post from last year where we shared an adorable girls Christmas tree.
We got the 7ft. Pre-Lit Artificial Cashmere Pencil Christmas Tree by Ashland and love how it fits in our sitting/living room. It nestles in perfectly under our stair case. It's tall and skinny and was so much fun to decorate. There were so many great ornaments that I'll link below. I went with a sort of farmhouse meets woodland theme but used mostly all red for the color theme. I grabbed 4-6 of the same ornaments, added in shatterproof ball ornaments, garland and picks of course. You can't decorate a tree without adding some of the amazing decor picks that Michaels carries!
Michaels also has some of the best Christmas decor around. I had to get a little creative when I put this together because they didn't have everything out yet. I love their wall decor, bottle brush trees, candles, etc. We stopped by today and they had almost everything out! I grabbed this adorable Santa pillow that I couldn't leave without. I ended up using wood wreaths from their DIY wreath section and added a bow to one of them. The door sign went up on the wall and I think it was the perfect spot for it.
They also have great Christmas pillows and throws. These ones work perfectly for our space! The two trees on the edges of our mantle are from Michaels. They have a lot of small tree options too. I also grabbed these gold candle holders and red candle sticks there too.
Of course you can't decorate for Christmas without twinkle lights! I added these to our mantle and our staircase garland. They have a ton of garland options if you aren't into making your own. I added twinkle lights, DIY bows that we made from their holiday ribbon, and clipped on faux poinsettias.
I ended up making my own garland for our mantle using stems and faux berries from the holiday stem section. They are secured together using floral wire. I love how they hang off the mantle. For the beaded garland, I made my own! I used wood beads and dyed half of them red using Rit dye. They came out perfectly. I had never dyed wood before and I love the color. I also made another garland accent with tassels, pom poms, and yarn bows. It's a unique touch that brought in some nice textures.
To dye your wood beads, you'll want to mix the dye according to the instructions. I let them sit overnight and they came out the perfect color. Then, let them dry for another 24 hours or so. Make sure to wear gloves when you're dying them!
I'm in love with these red stockings!
Do you have any Christmas decor up yet? I figure with it being 2020 and all, I would go ahead and just get our Christmas decor up now! The girls love it and they had fun helping me decorate. Make sure to keep an eye out over on Instagram next week where I'll be sharing our tree along with a fun giveaway to win a gift card to Michaels!
