Now that it's been close to a year since we purchased our Crate and Barrel Oceanside sofas, I figured it was time to give you our review! We got two of the same sofa's and love how they look in our home. When we bought the Oceanside sofas, they were a brand new style so there wasn't much info about them. I even went to the Crate and Barrel store to see them in person and they weren't on the showroom floor yet. Check out our Crate and Barrel Oceanside sofa review if you're on the hunt for a new couch!
Review updated September 2024
The Oceanside collection is available in 15+ pieces and 2 depths. You can have it custom made in over 200 fabric choices. The entire collection is lower profile and it sits on 1 inch legs. We've always had couches higher up off the floor, so make sure this works for you before you commit. My husband is 6'5" and he does say the couch is low for him.
We have now owned these two sofas for over 2 years and still LOVE them! We've moved them from Oregon to Arizona and they've held up great. I am honestly shocked at how easily they are to clean. We went with the base fabric choice, and stains clean up magically with water. We have kids and pets, and I thought these would last us maybe a year.
The Oceanside Sofas also hold their shape really well. I switch around the cushions often so they don't get worn out in one spot. I have yet to wash the covers and just spot clean.
Make sure to measure your existing furniture because these are so much lower than normal sofas. I had a console table that I was planning on putting behind one of them and it was so much taller than the couch. Don't make my mistake!
The Oceanside collection is available in sofas, sectionals, and chairs. You can design your own sectional based on your room.
I would say our style is a mix of modern, coastal, and transitional style and I think these sofas fit in perfectly.
We chose two of the 90" Wide-Arm Deep-Seat Sofa. You can also get a shallower depth. I love the wide arms on these sofas! They also come in three lengths; 78", 90", or 102". Our sofa dimensions are 90" in width, 43" in depth and 30" in height.
Another must for me in a new couch was that the backs of the couches were at a 90 degree angle vs. slanted. Our last sectional had a slanted back and it drove me nuts how it wouldn't sit flush with the wall. I also think it looks better being straight.
We went with the Ascend fabric in Ivory and overall, we are happy with it. I did go to the store to see the color in person and grabbed swatches. It seemed like the perfect color, but when the sofas arrived I was a little shocked at how light it was! We have 2 dogs, 3 cats, and 2 kids so I figured these would be gonners within months.

I'm happy to report that the fabric has held up quite well! There have been a few minor spills that have easily come clean with a little upholstery cleaner and water. The main issue I've had with the fabric is that our cats have scratched a few spots on the arms, but this is sort of inevitable. I did use some two sided tape on the arms to train them which seems to have worked!
The swatch above definitely looks tanner then ours. Make sure to order free swatches or grab them in store before purchasing!
I love that the Oceanside collection comes in so many color options. Beware though that if you're choosing a custom fabric, the delivery times can be long!
A friend ordered the same couch in a custom color and her Oceanside sectional took many months. When it arrived, it was missing the corner and she ended up sending it back. What a nightmare! We had a pleasant experience with our delivery, but we chose in stock pieces.
The Oceanside sofas are SO comfortable! The cushions are soft but also look structured which I love. The cushions are high-resiliency foam wrapped in a poly-feather blend. I rote them often so that the spot we usually sit in doesn't sink over time.

Overall, our Oceanside sofas have held up really well! There are no stains or tears of any kind.
Our sofas have not settled much at all. We rotate the cushions often to avoid this. Since we have two identical couches, we can also swap them so they don't get worn on any one side.
I love how low it sits to the ground. This is great for not getting tons of things stuck under the couch! It's so comfortable and it looks gorgeous in our home. I love the wide arms for setting things on like books or my morning coffee (on a coaster of course!). It's really easy to clean as well.
As much as I love how low it sits to the ground, it might not work for your arrangement or situation. If this couch is set to be in a formal living room, you might want to re-think. It's more for lounging vs. sitting upright and chatting with guests.
Since ours is extra deep, it's a little tough to sit with your back on the cushions without having your legs up. Shockingly, the light color seems to work well in our home with animals and kids, but it might not be for everyone so choose wisely!
