Updated for 2023! Last year, we visited ALL the flower fields we possibly could. We loved sharing them with you along with times to visit and exact locations. Now that it's been a full year, I wanted to do a one stop shop type of post with the ultimate round up of flower fields around Portland Oregon. Some types of flowers have several fields, so we'll share those below as well! Some are also more relaxed about photographing, and some are not so I'll note that too. With March just around the corner, our first flower will be the Cherry Blossoms!
these were taken at the roundabout by the Happy Valley Library
These typically bloom late March here in Downtown Portland. There are rows and rows of beautiful pink trees. It does get really crowded, so try not to go during lunch time (it seems like a lot of people eat their lunch down there). Check out our post with full details here.
I'd highly recommend trying out the cherry blossom trees at Tualatin High School or these ones at the Happy Valley Library. It is a small round about and they are just gorgeous. Plus, there is a playground nearby if your kids want to stop and play!
This festival takes place March 23rd-April 29th. I'd recommend going towards the middle, but it totally depends on how the weather has been. Try to go when we've had a dry spell so it's not a complete mud pit!
I'd recommend hiring a professional photographer for this one because they are able to go at off peak hours when there aren't as many people. You can also check out their Instagram page where they post updates on the fields!
If you can visit during a weekday evening, even better! Check out our post with full details here as well as the photographer we chose!
Updated info for 2023 - Buy tickets ahead of time! As of early April, there are not many blooms. They expect tulips to bloom later this year due to our late Spring weather. Check their website for more info!
This is my all time favorite flower field that we've been going to for years! It's truly a dream come true. Photos don't even begin to do it justice.
We went during the week and there were maybe 5 other people there. The girls and I frolicked through the fields and had a picnic lunch on the grounds. It was amazing. I'd plan a mid May visit to make sure to get the most flowers blooming.
We went late in May and I thought we had missed them all, but there were still plenty blooming. You may want to call ahead if you wanted to have a professional photographer, but I just took photos of the girls with my own camera. Check out the post here with location details!
One more note, the Iris Festival at Schreiner's Farm takes place at the end of May. The two farms are close by, so it would be a great time to visit both.
Brooks Garden is another Peony farm in Portland (close to Adelman's). We did end up visiting and it is no where near as breathtaking as Adelman's.
I actually didn't blog about this festival, but we had such a fun time here! We also got some really beautiful photos of the girls and had a great, overcast day for it.
The festival offers U pick Lavender, wreath making, lavender ice cream, lemonade, beer/wine, etc. It's a must visit for us! It takes place late June and is held at the Liberty Natural Products location in Oregon City.
A few other lavender farms to visit are the Helvatia Lavender Farm (takes place in July), Hood River Lavender Farm (festival takes place in early July) and Mountainside Lavender Farm (which has times posted on their site for Ucut hours). For Helvetia and Hood River, you can also go during the week to Ucut and would have way less crowds!
There are a lot of poppy fields around Oregon. They bloom in late July and are so gorgeous! This one doesn't exist any longer, but it was in the Mt. Angel area.
We found several sunflower fields throughout the summer and I listed a few favorites over on this blog post. There are some amazing fields on Sauvie's Island, in Hood River, and Hillsboro. West Union Gardens is our absolute favorite.
They actually have a note up that you are more than welcome any time to take photos (even if the farm is closed), they just ask for a small donation to take photos! You'll want to visit late August/Early September.
these photos were all taken at West Union Garden
We visit the Swan Island Dahlia Festival nearly every year. There are rows and rows and rows of beautiful Dahlias to look at and take photos with! It takes place the last two weekends in August. Check out our full post here!
I left this one for last, because flowers start blooming in the Spring and last through Fall here. The Crystal Springs Rhododendron Gardens are great to visit with kids because there is a lot to explore! There are also a lot of opportunities for photographs with pretty flowers.

Hey! I was wondering if you could email or send me a more detailed description of where the poppy field is? I would love to use them for senior photos! Thank you so much:)
