We recently updated our living room decor to a whole new look and I'm in love! When we first moved into our home, we bought a large sectional sofa. It's really comfortable, but it always looked messy and I was constantly having to fluff the cushions. I was hoping for a more "formal" look for this space since it's in our main living area, and I think I found the perfect option. We ended up getting two identical couches from Crate & Barrel. So far, they are holding up really well and are SO comfortable. They're firm, but also feel lived in. Keep reading for more of our updated living room decor ideas!
The couches we went with are the Oceanside which is a brand new style for Crate & Barrel. I've always heard great things about their furniture, and so far we've had a great experience. These are definitely a lot lower of a profile than our previous sectional. They are the 90" in length and 43" depth sofas. They also come in many other configurations! We were able to repurpose our old sectional in our upstairs loft/TV room. It's the perfect fit and style for that space.
The color/fabric we chose was the Ascend fabric in Ivory. It is a lot lighter than I thought it was going to be, but we're going to hope that it stays beautiful! We now have a no food, drink or animal policy on the couches and it seems to be going well so far. If there is enough interest, I can do a full review of the sofa since it is a brand new style for them.
We moved our rectangle Pottery Barn coffee table downstairs and it fits great in between the two couches. So far, we are going to keep our Serena & Lily side tables that we love. I'm not 100% sure I am going to keep them in this space, but they work for now!
Here are a few options when it comes to living room decor ideas. I love to stack books for height on coffee tables and side tables, add faux greenery for texture, and add a tray to keep things a bit organized. We also keep lots of decorative boxes to hide things like reading books and remotes. If you're interested in seeing how our living room looked before, click here and here!
I like to also mix in real greenery like this small plant. We also keep some marble coasters to set water on.
Our living area is pretty open concept. Our living room blends in with our dining room and kitchen. We have a two sided fire place that opens to a 2nd living area/sitting area. I personally love this for our family, but some might light having more defined spaces. Adding the 2nd couch that has it's back facing the ding room helps to sort of define the space more. I don't think I've ever shared photos of the whole space before!
We've had our dining room table for 7 years now! It's from Pier 1 and has held up really well. I don't know if we'll ever switch it up!
Here is a view from our kitchen to our living room. We keep our decor fairly neutral with some pops of sage green. Our kitchen is really white, so I try to add touches of warm wood to warm it up a bit.
